If a cancellation MTA has already been processed in Digit and the broker later decides that the policy should remain on cover, do not delete any transactions or MTAs.
Deleting reconciled or insurer-paid transactions will result in an incorrect audit trail and may cause discrepancies in Digit.
Correct Process
- Open the original cancellation MTA and change its status back to On Cover.
- Create a new MTA.
- Set the effective date of the new MTA to match the original cancellation MTA.
-
Manually enter the matrix values to exactly reverse the original cancellation.
- For example, if the cancellation MTA has a Return Premium (RP) of -£750, the new MTA should have an Additional Premium (AP) of £750.
-
Replicate the matrix breakdown exactly as it appears on the cancellation MTA.
- Every premium, tax, fee and commission value should be entered as the opposite value.
- This ensures the Digit transactions are split correctly.
- Once complete, the financial position across both MTAs should equal zero, effectively restoring the original policy.
Important
Never delete reconciled or insurer-paid transactions.
Always reverse a cancellation by creating a new MTA rather than removing existing records. This preserves the accounting audit trail and ensures Digit remains accurate.
