SchemeServe does not support Commission Flex on the quotation journey yet. However, commission can still be overridden manually using a controlled approach within the scheme questions and rating file.
Recommended Approach: Hidden Questions
The preferred method for overriding commission is to use hidden questions within the question set. This ensures the override is intentional, auditable, and consistent.
You should configure:
-
Override Trigger Question (Hidden)
Type: Yes/No (radio)
Purpose: Determines whether commission should be overridden
- Override Percentage Question (Hidden)
Type: Percentage
Purpose: Captures the commission value to apply when the override is enabled
When to Apply the Override
Commission overrides must be applied after a quotation has been generated.
You may want to add a question into your quotation journey asking if a broker wants amend their commission - this can then create a referral to notify the underwriter.
Steps to Apply the Override
- Generate the quotation as normal
- Populate the hidden override fields:
- Set the override trigger to Yes
- Enter the required commission percentage
- Save the answers
- Click Rerun Rules
- Click Rerun Rating
Expected Outcome
SchemeServe will recalculate pricing using the overridden commission
The updated commission will be reflected in the Matrix tab
Key Considerations
Overrides will not apply unless rules and rating are rerun
Ensure validation is in place to prevent invalid commission values
Hidden questions should only be exposed to authorised users where appropriate
⚠️ Why do we not just amend the commission fields on the matrix tab?
If you amend the matrix tab, save changes and then ever select “rerun rating file”, the rating file will run again and override your amended commission with the commission that was built into the rating file.
