SchemeServe supports card payments through the Sage Pay integration, now known as Opayo by Elavon. Although the payment provider has been rebranded, some areas of the SchemeServe interface may still refer to it as Sage Pay.

Before You Start

Before configuring card payments, you will need:

  • An active Opayo (formerly Sage Pay) account.
  • Your vendor name, supplied by Opayo.
  • Access to the Settings area in SchemeServe.
  • Permission to edit the schemes where you want to accept card payments.

Configure the Payment Provider

  1. In SchemeServe, go to Settings in the top right.
  2. Select Extensions (6th tab across)
  3. Open Sage Pay (this may still use the legacy name in the interface).
  4. Enter the vendor name provided by Opayo.
  5. Save your changes.

Enable Card Payments for a Scheme

Card payments must be enabled individually for each scheme.

  1. Go to Schemes.
  2. Open the required scheme.
  3. Select Payments.
  4. Enable Sage Pay payments.
  5. Save your changes.
  6. Repeat these steps for any other schemes where you want to accept card payments.

Test the Integration

Once configured, complete a test quotation (simple quote with no referrals), card payment will appear at the end of the quote and payment to confirm that card payments are working correctly for the scheme.

Processing Refunds

Refunds can be processed directly from the policy.

  1. Open the policy and do a cancellation or MTA that calculates a refund
  2. Go to the Money tab.
  3. Click Refund.

When a policy is cancelled or adjusted, SchemeServe calculates the appropriate refund amount. Selecting Refund returns the money to the card originally used for payment.

Renewals and Stored Cards

When a customer pays by card, their card details are securely tokenised and stored for future transactions.

  • If the saved card is still valid, it can be used automatically for renewals.
  • If the card has expired or is no longer valid, the customer must update their card details during the renewal process.
  • If the card is not updated, the policy will not go on cover until a valid payment method is provided.

SchemeServe does not support auto collection of monthly card payments. We do have option for instalment payments.
