Commission on the Matrix Tab

The Matrix tab allows you to configure and view commission values at both insurer and broker level for each individual risk group.

How Commission Works

Commission is configured per risk group within the Matrix tab. Each section/risk group can have its own commission structure.

There are two commission types shown:

Commission From Insurer

This is the commission earned from the insurer for that specific risk group.

Example:

Net Total: £2,821.49

Commission From Insurer @ 25%

Insurer Commission Earned: £705.37

This represents the amount payable by the insurer.

Commission To Broker

This is the commission payable to the broker (where applicable).

In the example shown, JES1 is the broker.

If the policy is:

B2B / Broker business → broker commission may apply

B2C / Direct business → broker commission would typically be 0%

Example:

Commission To JES1 @ 10%

Broker Commission: £282.15

Total Commission Values

At the bottom of the Matrix tab, the system displays:

  • Total Premium (Net)
  • IPT
  • Policy Fee
  • Total Premium
  • Total Commission To Broker
  • Due From Broker

Example:

Field Amount
Total Premium (Net) £3,282.20
IPT £393.86
Policy Fee £25.00
Total Premium £3,701.06
Commission To JES1 £320.72
Due From JES1 £3,380.34

The Due From JES1 value is calculated after broker commission has been deducted.

Ledger / DIGIT Display

Broker commission values are also shown within DIGIT as monetary entries on the Ledger tab.

This allows users to clearly see:

  • Gross premium
  • Broker commission deductions
  • Amount due from the broker

Configuration

All commission values are configured within the rating file.

Commission can be configured:

  • Per risk group
  • Per insurer
  • Per broker
  • Specific broker commission rates can also be assigned using the broker’s Broker ID.

This allows different brokers to receive different commission arrangements on the same product if required.
