General question types:

  • Address - You´ll be able to add an address type question which will automatically request all components of the address. You can also use an address lookup .[InsertLink]
  • Name - Similar to the address, the name type question will ask for all components e.g. title, name and surname.
  • Dropdown - Build your own dropdown options by adding in as many answers as you need.

Tip - add the first option as “-Select-”, this makes sure the question doesn´t look prepopulated on the quote journey.

  • Radio Buttons - For a clean 2 option question, build your radio button to include options of your choice.
  • Lookup Files - For dropdown questions which are larger than 10 options, a lookup file can be added in the admin - file lookup section. You can then select a lookup file question type which will allow you to decide which file to offer as your dropdown options. This is commonly used for occupations or nationalities/counties.
  • Table - When needing to display multiple data under one question (such as claims), a table is a good option. You can decide which columns the question will have along with different types of questions per column.
  • Multi-page - A multi-page question is used when the same questions need to be asked over and over again for different risks. It is a larger version of a table. Multi-page questions are commonly used for any schemes related to property. For our full guide on multi-pages, click here.

Validations
A validation adds a warning to a question when a certain answer is selected. For example, if a number is entered over 100 then a warning can appear on the quote journey stating “please review answer, anything over 100 will be referred”. The text can be personalised to whatever suits your question.

Triggers
You can add triggers to a question on a scheme to generate additional questions based on certain answers. For example, if the answer to “Do you require Business Interruption Cover” is equal to "Yes” then a number of questions related to business interruption will show.

Do you require Business Interruption Cover?

Or if an answer needs further clarification (IF answer = “other”, then show “please provide more information” ). You can have multiple triggers for a single question if necessary.

Calculation questions & row charges:

These are normally built after you´ve built all your standard questions:

  • Single Page - When creating a question, you have the option of creating a standard question or a calculation question. When a calculation question is selected, it will appear on the matrix tab. You have the options to decide under which risk group this will appear by selecting the “rates” tab on the question editor.

  • Multi-page - These work differently from a single page scheme. If you are building a calculation for a multi-page question such as sums insured, you will add this as a row charge. This can be found within your multi-page question under multiquestion - charges. This is the same idea as adding a calculation question for a single-page scheme but this will be calculated per multi-page e.g per property.

Neither of the above are shown on the get quote journey (SP will need to be manually hidden) and instead will need to be populated through your rating file. This is explained in more detail in our rating file guide.

In one scheme you can have single-page calculation questions and multi-page calculation questions e.g.
for a Property Owners scheme, your sums insured will be multi-page and therefor built as a row charge within your MP. However, you legal expenses will not be calculated per property and instead will be single-page. This will be added as a calculation question not inside your MP question.
