SchemeServe allows you to apply standard header, footer, and watermark images across your document templates. These can be configured globally or per insurer and then enabled within individual document templates.
This is typically used for:
- Branding (logos, letterheads)
- Regulatory wording in footers
- Watermarks (e.g. Draft, Confidential)

Where to Configure
Navigate to:
Editing Documents → Header and Footer (right-hand panel)
You will see:
- Insurer selector
-
Upload sections for:
- Header
- Footer
- Watermark
Insurer Selection
The Insurer dropdown controls the scope of the images:
-
All Insurers
- Applies to every insurer unless overridden
-
Specific Insurer (e.g. SchemeServe Insurance, Amlin, Advent)
- Applies only to documents for that insurer
- Overrides “All Insurers” where present
Uploading Images
Each section (Header, Footer, Watermark) allows:
- File selection
- Upload
Once uploaded, the image becomes available to all document templates within that scope.
Image Requirements
To ensure correct rendering in SchemeServe PDFs:
Dimensions
-
Header / Footer / Watermark (full width):
- 1190px wide (scaled internally from 595 × 2)
-
Full-page watermark:
- 1200px × 1796px
Format
- Must be .png
Scaling
- Images are automatically scaled by 0.5 for quality optimisation
Positioning Guidance
- Headers and footers are rendered full width
-
To centre a logo:
- Create a white background image at 1190px width
- Place the logo centrally within that canvas

Applying to Documents
Uploading images alone does not apply them automatically.
To enable them:
- Open the document template (e.g. Policy Schedule, Statement of Fact)
- Go to Other Options → Header & Footer
-
Select the required options:
- Standard Header
- Standard Footer
- Page Numbers
- Watermark
Additional Options
Page Numbers
- Adds pagination to the document
- Independent of header/footer images
Margins
- Can be adjusted per document
- Leave blank for automatic handling
